WOLLUNDRY RC GEARS & BEERS PRESENTATION.
Phil McIntosh, from the Wollundry RC, gave a heart felt vote of thanks to our club for our support for the Gears & Beers October long weekend. Phil showed a video which was unsolicited by one of the riders who got to ride a titanium bike in the Dirty 130. It goes to show just how far this cycle event has reached people all around Australia.
The publicity generated by this annual event does enormous good for Wagga Wagga and our Shire.
David Pyke story of what went on on the farm and Pat Ingram recounted how the sausage sizzle went from 300 to 750 sausages in a short time.
Phil said that the registrations for the 2025 event reached 2,600, Gears & Beers is in a good place. Phil said that the riders are blown away by the magnitude of the country side they cycle through. Phil spent a special part of his talk to thank those farmers who had the event go through their farms, Vicki and Barry Langtry, the Carmichaels and Kevin Hogg.
Phil then gave an example of how this event keeps surprising all who enter. The owners of Free Time Beer donated carton after carton of their non alcoholic beer, this took place in Dead Camel Lane.
Phil said that they are already planning the 2026 Gears & Beers event with some changes mooted such as 2 rides to Coolamon and 2 rides on “The Farm”.
Gears & Beers continues to grow and attract people and the only problem they encountered was getting the traffic management in place in time.
Phil and the team form Wollundry then presented a cheque of $12,000 to Daryl Breust and Adrian. Daryl thanked Phil and Wollundry for the donation which is very welcome for our charity work.
All in all an excellent meeting which had a surprise rendition of three poems by Benny which had everyone in stiches.
This was followed by the raffle draw won by David Byfield and second was Grahame Miles.
As is our custom the S@A Dick and Cpl Garth carried out the fines session and not even the guests were spared tonight.
A lot of fun and the meeting ended at 8.50pm. Thanks to PP Adrian for filling in for Mary our president.
OUT AND ABOUT TEMORA CHRISTMAS TOY RUN.
Grahame Miles went to Temora to deliver the toys our club has donated to the Salvation Army Toy Appeal:
Thanks Grahame and Sharon for doing this and others! To the Coolamon PO for donating $200 worth of toys and to Sharon and Phil at the Ganmain Toy Shop (Newsagents) for opening their shop to us at a very busy time for them.
The toys were received by S.A. volunteers Dianne & Emily with Temora Rotary member Phil.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
A historic moment for Rotary!
I’m proud to share that Michael McGovern has been selected as chair of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative’s Polio Oversight Board beginning 1 January 2026. This is the first time a Rotary member will lead this vital group.
Michael’s leadership will strengthen collaboration across partners, sharpen strategy, and help bring us closer to a polio-free world.
Join me in congratulating Michael and underscoring our commitment to a polio-free world. Together, we can make history!
Editor’s Note: I learnt a lot about Rotary when I served on the board of RFFA and Michael McGovern was a fellow director. “Good on you Mike I look forward to the reports coming out of the GPEI that you now head”.
