OUT AND ABOUT SRI LANKA
News and some photos sent from Sri Lanka by Maree Jennings who is with Dick, Viki, Barry, Albert, Dianne and others.
Maree said “We are certainly flying through our Sri Lankan experience. From climbing Sigiriya Rock, a jeep safari to see a heard of elephants in the National Park and an unexpected highlight was last nights cooking demonstration. We were given a full tour of the very impressive commercial kitchen here at Kandalama Heritance, followed by a demonstration by one of the chefs who prepared our dinner. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed it. Today we leave for Kandy.”
Update from the Sri Lanka travellers:
“Another memorable day, High Tea at the Grand Hotel. Tomorrow we leave the beautiful mountain tea country and head to Yala. Looking forward to the safari.”

ROTARY NEWS and ITEMS OF INTEREST
1. A YEAR ON THE WAVES
Jasmine Harrison a member of the Rotary Club of Thirsk, UK.
Mini Globe Race competitor and Rotary ambassador Jasmine Harrison is currently sailing solo from Thursday Island to Cocos (Keeling) Islands in her 19-foot Rotary-branded yacht Numbatou, more than halfway through her world traverse.
Words Sarah Atkins. President, No Borders Rotaract
WHEN we last caught up with Jasmine Harrison, she was 7,000 miles into her globe-spanning adventure, on her way to the Marquesas islands.
Now on leg three of the Mini Globe Race, en route to Cape Town, Jasmine enjoyed a month-long stopover in Fiji, which completed leg two of the race. The novice sailor, who set off from Portugal in December, has now sailed more than halfway around the world, over 12,000 nautical miles.

2. ROTARY AND THE UNITED NATIONS
BELIEVE IT OR NOT!
Rotary International played a key role in the founding of the United Nations in 1945 — with 49 Rotarians helping draft the UN Charter at the San Francisco Conference!
Today, Rotary continues to work alongside the UN, promoting peace, health, education, and clean water through global partnerships and its consultative status with the UN’s Economic and Social Council.
From shaping history to building a better future — Rotary is still making a world of difference.
