Group Study Exchange Team from District 1010 Scotland visits Coolamon

Here are some photographs of the visit by the Group Study Exchange team from District 1010 in Scotland.  They met with us on Monday 26th March at our regular Monday night meeting.  Thanks to Ian Durham for the photos.

District 9700 Conference at Young

Thank you to our District Governor Ian Simpson and his wife Jean Simpson for an excellent conference in Young.  Also many thanks to the Rotary Club of Young for all their hard work in organising the conference.  Some very good speakers and a great band on the Saturday night.  However the best part as always was fellowship and that was abundant and catching up with fellow Rotarians is always a high light of any conference.

Here are some photos of the weekend in Young thanks to PDG John Egan for these photos.

Busy Rotary Week

It has been a very busy week for Rotary at Coolamon with the District Conference and the visit of the GSE Team from Scotland.  I will upload stories on all the fun times we have had over the past 7 days as soon as I recover!

John Burns Induction

It is always a very important occasion the induction of a new member to our club.  Last Monday our President Marg Perkin inducted John Burns to Rotary International as a member of Coolamon Rotary.  John is the Head Master at the Coolamon Central School and we also welcome Val,  John’s wife, to our family of Rotary.  PP Ian Durham will introduce John to the ways of Rotary and we wish John a long and mutually rewarding association with our club and Rotary International.

President Marg Perkin Welcomes John Burns to Rotary
PP Ian Durham says a few words of welcome for John.

Ganmain Floods

The week we had 300mm of rain or 12″

Ganmain was flooded and a lot of damage done to several buildings internally including the Senior Citizens centre, the Ganmain Historical Society, The Ganmain Men’s Shed, The Red Cross Hall, Warren’s Butchery. If anyone wants to help with the clean up please contact me on 6927 6027.

The Boggy Creek bridge has been damaged but one lane is open.

The rain has gone now and we are having beautiful sunny days to aid in the clean up.
