This week we look at the Skiing Fellowship:
The International Skiing Fellowship of Rotarians ISFR is a group of Rotarians dedicated to promoting skiing as an opportunity for fellowship and service.
Skiing is enjoyed world wide by thousands of Rotarians and their families of all ages and abilities. What better and more enjoyable avenue to build new friendships and international understanding than to join your fellow Rotarians and sharpen your skills on the slopes of the world or see the world on cross-country skis! Not only will your physical fitness improve, but with a closer understanding of Rotary ideals your spirit will be enriched as well.

SUNRISE CHANGE OVER DINNER IN WAGGA
This week we cancelled our regular meeting and decided to attend the Wagga Wagga Sunrise Rotary Club’s change over dinner. In all 9 of us represented Coolamon at the dinner held at the Wagga Wagga Country Club. It was an excellent evening with great food and even better fellowship.
There were three Paul Harris Awards and a new president in Peter Gissing. Looks like a good year coming up for Sunrise.
However the highlight of the night was the presentation of the Rotary International Service Above Self Award to PDG Fred Loneragan. This is the highest award given to a Rotarian and only 150 are awarded annually by the RI President. There have only been 5 SAS recipients in District 9700 since the inception of the award in 1991. Congratulations Fred well deserved mate!

These upbeat and energetic Rotarians from Holland typify convention goers. I love meeting people from different parts of the world. It’s what makes the convention and Rotary so special.
Thank you all for joining Kyoko and me here in Lisbon, Harbor for Peace, to celebrate this wonderful year of Peace Through Service. I’ve always dreamed of a more peaceful world, and for me this convention has been my dream come true.

Wedding Cake
Doctor was addressing a large audience: “The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining.. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long- term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water.
But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have, or will, eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?”
After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said, “Wedding Cake.”

Evolution
A little girl asked her mother, “How did the human race appear?”
The mother answered, “God made Adam and Eve and they had children, and so was all mankind made..”
Two days later the girl asked her father the same question.. The father answered, “Many years ago there were monkeys from which the human race evolved.”
The confused girl returned to her mother and said, “Mom, how is it possible that you told me the human race was created by God, and Dad said they developed from monkeys?”
The mother answered, “Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about my side of the family and your father told you about his.”

Blonde Coffee
It was a blondes first day at the office. Her first task was to go out for coffee.
Eager to prove her worth to her new bosses, she grabbed a large thermos and hurried to the nearby coffee shop.
She held up the thermos so that the counterman could view it, and she asked, “Is this big enough to hold six cups of coffee?”
The counterman looked at the thermos and replied, “Yes. It looks like about six cups to me.”
“Oh good!” the blonde sighed in relief. “Give me three regular, one black, and two decaf.”

Dame Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage Nairobi Kenya
Playful Barsilinga plays up for the camera in this photo taken last week. Having been in our care since March 2012, this little bull arrived at just 2 weeks old after his mother suffered a horrific death following a poaching attack.
Very vulnerable and frightened upon being rescued, Barsilinga was luckily in a very good condition physically and continues to thrive at the Nairobi Nursery.
Foster Barsilinga and help us provide him with the love and care he needs to one day return to the wild:
