Left Coolamon Rotary President Ian and Coolamon Lions President Neil cooking up a storm
Last week Narelle and Greg Guthrie from Coolamon lost all their possessions and their home in a house fire.
Rotary and Lions from Coolamon along with many other Coolamon groups organised a fund raising day to help the Guthries. There was a bowls tournament, golf match, BBQ, childrens' slide, musicians from Coolamon and the famous Rotary Chocolate Wheel in action. On top of this the Coolamon Fire Brigade were there supporting the day along with many Coolamon folk and residents of the Coolamon Shire.
The day was a wonderful example of how a small town looks after it's own in times of strife.

Thanks again to all involved with the organisation and running of this fund raising event for my brother and family.
It was very much appreciated and enjoyed by Greg, his family, his extended family and everyone else I was fortunate enough to talk to on the day.
What a great day and what about that singing talent that exists in Coolamon.
Also, a big thank you to Dave & Angela McCann, Bill Thompson, all the sponsers, everyone who made donations & all who were involved.
Although it was an unfortunate event, Greg was lucky in a way that it happenned in a town such as Coolamon where everyone are so generous, caring and supportive when someone is in need.
Thank you all so much for helping out my brother Greg and his family. You cannot bet the country folks.
It was a wonderful day and enjoyed by all
Thank you all so much.
Thank you John for another interesting Bulletin from a really vital club.
Your propose Dinner Badge looks good. The rectangular format is so much easier to manage than those awful circular things that we had years ago. The Guthrie Benefit Day was a wonderful commitment and a great result. I could not help but compare it with the way that all Kiwis have got behind the Christchurch earthquake victims. Perhaps it is that great Anzac spirit that exists in both our countries – the self- sufficiency, independence and caring for our mates that is so much part of our make-up and heritage.
Go safely, my friend.
