Coolamon Rotary Bulletin for Week of 19/02/2024
Meeting of Monday 19th February
Tonight PP Henk Hulsman was in the chair as President John Bond has a family health issue to look after.
We had 20 members and one guest (our next new member) Vicki Langtry attend our meeting tonight.
All in all a good role up of members and we had a shorter meeting than usual however we did discuss:
- Mary advised us that we were sent a cheque for $1,200 for our help at the recent Marrar Madness weekend.
- Garth spoke about the visit to Coolamon with the Health Van and that we will need a roster of volunteers. The event will be held in Coolamon on Saturday May 11th.
- The Coolamon pre-School are looking for funds these funds to help with the completion of their new building:
- Henk said that the board meeting will be held next Monday at 5.15pm.
- Anne is looking for support for the Wagga Wagga bike event on Sunday April the 14th with catering. More details to follow.
- Henk advised us that the working with children checks are going well. If any members need help it is available.
- John G gave a quick report on the progress of the CRCTB 2024 edition. Our thanks go to Bear, Vicky, Anne, Henk and Grahame for the work done to date. JG is collating the data for the advertisers and Vicky is looking after the white pages entries with help from Anne. The whole project is looking very positive for a great result for our community here and beyond.
It was good to see our S@A and his Cpl. in full swing tonight and no one was spared. Another crazy and happy fines session.
The raffle was won by Anne and Henk won second prize.
The meeting closed at 8.30pm and several of the CRCTB 2024 committee met in two groups to updating the advertisers master sheet. Paul advised us via email that he will set up an easier way to achieve this via the cloud!!!!
Another positive and fun evening at the CRC!

1. Rotary International is launching a new peace centre at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul, Türkiye.
Next month, Rotary International and administrators at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul, Türkiye, will begin recruiting fellowship candidates for a new peace centre opening at the university. The Otto and Fran Walter Rotary Peace Centre will offer experienced peacebuilders based in the Middle East and North Africa the opportunity to complete a one-year professional development certificate program, earning postgraduate diplomas in peace and development studies.

There are Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries, including some of the world’s most remote locations. Indeed, it’s accurate to say Rotary has spread to virtually every corner of the globe. Here, meet six far-flung clubs and learn what they do.
St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
St. John’s has five Rotary and Rotaract clubs. Founded in 1921, the 60-member Rotary Club of St. John’s is the oldest in this Canadian province. “Rotary is wonderfully represented in our small city,” says Ron Burke, the club’s president. The provincial capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John’s has just under 110,000 inhabitants. The city’s Rotary clubs do not see themselves as competitors, but pool their forces to make a difference. Together, they created the Rotary Sunshine Park, a recreational area with a water pier, a leisure centre, and a chalet that can be rented for overnight stays.
