Our last meeting for 2021 was a self catering meeting and we did have guests present including one of our past members Sarah Colins (nee Bond). It was wonderful to catch up with Sarah in Coolamon visiting her family. We had four members from the Wollundry Rotary Club in Phil McIntosh, David Byfield, Frank Fuller and PE Phil Burgess, who were on hand to discuss plans for Gears & Beers, which will be held in March after being postponed by COVID. Also present were 17 members.
After dinner Phil McIntosh from Wollundry RC outlined the upcoming Bears and Gears event to be stage in March 2022. Our club’s involvement will be on the 27th March.
Phil showed maps of where we will be needed to guide riders at intersections and where best to cater for the riders and public on the day. Phil said that so far they have received over 3,100 registrations for the weekend. Gears and Beers 2022 will be held at the regular time over the October log weekend.

Coolamon Shire Wide Christmas Light Competition is on NOW!
This year, Coolamon Lions Club is offering cash prizes for the best efforts in the following categories
• Best residential decoration – $500 and $250 runner up

• Best decorated mailbox or front farm gate (RMB addresses) –
$300 (proudly sponsored by Coolamon Chaser Bins).
There is no entry fee, simply decorate your house or shop front by 14th December and send a photograph to the Lions Club Facebook Page to be in the running for a prize. If you don’t use social media, you can email your picture to the Lions Club secretary, David McCann at [email protected].
There’s just one catch—Your display must have a LION included somewhere in it. The Lion can be a toy, a picture anything, as long as it’s a LION and can be seen in your picture!

Past President Daryl welcomed 18 members to our weekly meeting in Albert’s absence. With many members absent on the night owing to the continuing harvest, business was light and focussed on catering for the dog shows coming up this weekend in Ganmain. The club will be catering breakfast and lunch on Friday and breakfast on Sunday. In lieu of a fines session, Sergeant-at-Arms Bondy showed us how uncoordinated we were by having us rotate our legs while reciting the Greek alphabet, which cannot be done! Someone won the raffle.

The Rotary Friendship Exchange Photo Award showcases memorable exchanges around the world. The 2021-22 award theme was Embracing Diversity. Participants were asked to show how their exchange embraced diversity and diverse ideas by learning something new and reimagining how their district could participate in an exchange during the pandemic. We received amazing photos and strategies that demonstrated diversity and are excited to announce this year’s winner and runner up.
2. CRC AT WORK
The Coolamon Ganmain Kennel Club Dog Show is on this weekend and we are cooking breakfast and lunch on Friday and Breakfast on Sunday. Thanks to our volunteers and so far (Friday) Garth Perkin brought the caravan to the Ganmain Show Grounds and set it up on Thursday ready for serving breakfast on Friday. Cooking were Anne Rzeszkowski, Garth Perkin, Mary Potts, Henk Hulsman, Ian Jennings, Albert Suidgeest and John Glassford.

Dianne and Albert Suidgeest were our hosts for this year’s CRC Christmas party. Our thanks to the Suidgeest’s’ for their hospitality and for all the work they and others put in to make the night a memorable one. Special thanks to all those who brought a salad or a sweet or both.
34 members, partners and guests attended the gathering. The garden is special and well worth a visit at the next open garden day. It was also Albert’s birthday!
We all met down at “Lake Albert” where we had entrees prepared by Mary and Anne and went down well. The first highlight of the night was the bogged Merc. It took a bogged attempt by a 4-wheel to bring out the big guns: Albert and a long strap. Eventually both bogged vehicles were free; thanks Albert and apologies for the ruts!
The meal, which included a whole lot of prawns and ham plus salads and sweets, was definitely another highlight of the evening.
Leo de Kroo, a well known Coolamon identity, then entertained us with a few Christmas songs, inviting those assembled to sing along and chiding us when we reflexively used the traditional words to Jingle Bells instead of those of the Aussie version! If for some reason you’re not familiar with the Aussie version of Jingle Bells, you can find it here in a video complete with bogan humour! BTW, Leo is listed in Wikipedia.
BTW Chez did not catch anything!!!
We all had a great night of fellowship and friendship.
MONDAY AT MARRAR
This Monday, being a fifth Monday, led Coolamon Rotarians to the Marrar Hotel for a social night. Twenty-four members and guests attended the meeting.
So good to have a change of venue and catering. The dinner was plentiful with two courses prepared by one of our members, Craig Lambert, who works at the Marrar Hotel. After some great fellowship we sat down in the dining room and were entertained by Grahame Miles and Ian Jennings “singing” our old grace! We now know why we have stopped singing grace! A good time was had by all.

23/11/21 – So pleased to welcome our new arrival Eva this morning…… to mum Zsa Zsa and dad Theo. Another beautiful bay filly from RQH Ala Natural and Time To Be Radical born at 5 am and running around by 8 am.
26/11/21 – So pleased with the safe arrival of Rosa on Saturday am! The first foal for mom Time To Be Stylish and first appaloosa foal for dad Potentially Lazy!! A lovely filly with big white blaze and one sock…she’s a pretty colour too… light bay or dark buckskin…. time will tell but she’s loping already!!!

2. RAGES To The Moon
RAGES Rotarian Action Group for Endangered Species this Rotary Action Group or RAG was started in our club by John Glassford and Phillip Merritt from the RC of Mabalacat Clark in The Philippines. John and Phillip are friends and members of ROTI or Rotarians On The Internet. Rotary approved this RAG in July 2013 and John was it’s 1st Chair.
The painting Tears of the Rhino by artist Paula Wiegmink originally of Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia) will be going to the moon.
RAGES received permission to use the painting as the logo for RAGES from Paula Wiegmink. It has taken a life of it’s own following the meeting between John, Susan and Dr. Jane Goodall in Sydney in 2014.

The Say NO poster was created and printed here in Wagga and has since had many well known conservationists sign the poster thanks to Duke Ingram and Ruben Besureis who took the poster over and had it signed. Duke Ingram, a poet and a motivational spiritual speaker and currently chosen by RAGES Rotary action group to head the world wide Say No campaign with his band Besureis for endangered species protection, which is the first ever Rotary campaign approved to include animals and global climate issues the main focus extinction, which has attracted some of the biggest names leaders and freedom fighters with the likes of Dr. Jane Goodall, Jeremy Irons, Noam Chomsky, Sir David Attenborough, Jean-Claud Van Damme, David Icke and many many more.
President Albert reminded all present that the Christmas Party will be at his residence on Saturday from 5.30 pm. A form was passed around to get names from our members who will attend. A request was made for salads and sweets. Please bring garden chairs to sit around “Lake Albert”.
Scott Reardon Visit to Coolamon. A discussion ensued on the upcoming visit of Scott Reardon on April 2nd. 2022. Daryl Breust and Brian Pattison outlined some of the ideas being discussed by the committee including:
Coolamon FC will run the bar.
Funds raised will go to the Park Trustees, Allawah Lodge and our Hospital.
Marketing ideas were discussed and will be discussed in greater depth by the committee.
There was a bit of discussion on the ticket price; again, the committee will discuss this further.
The committee will work out the best way to proceed.
This coming Monday (29th November) is a 5th Monday, so in lieu of our regular meeting we will be going to the Marrar Hotel for a two course meal prepared by Craig Lambert. This is a social gathering and the cost is $25 per head. If you have not already given your name and any guests please let Ian Jennings know as soon as possible.
“Marrar 1900: The first building of any substance in Marrar was the Royal Hotel which was completed in 1900. Construction was by Grosvenor Flood, a gentleman with great confidence in the future of Marrar. ‘Grover’ Flood, as he was generally known, built several other buildings in York Street and all were built to last. These same buildings stand solid today, a memorial to Flood, the pioneer.
The Royal Hotel was built of mud, or Pise as it was generally known. This was a method used centuries before in the American West and Spanish settlements in South America, called Adobe. Flood, who was a good tradesman, did quite a lot of the construction himself, assisted by George Jackson, a man of many trades. Extra labour was provided by ‘bush carpenters’ who were always plentiful at that time.”

Mary has 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Mother of 2 daughters and grandmother to 2 grandchildren
Enjoys hiking, gardens and running marathons!
Enjoyed netball and softball in her youth.
Favourite movie is Sister Act and Whoopi Goldberg is her favourite actor.
Has visited Scotland and Ireland and wants to visit Italy.
Mary has a an interesting family history going back to Ireland. In 1850, Mary’s great grandfather migrated from Ireland to Australia via England and the USA, eventually settling on a soldier settler’s block in Murrumburrah.
Mary has worked as an accountant with Touche Ross in Canberra and Adams Kenneally White Chartered Accountants in Wagga Wagga.
We look forward to Mary as our club Treasurer in 2022-2023.

1. District 9705 Board Vaccination Recommendation
The District 9705 Board recommends that clubs in our district decline attendance at meetings for eligible people who are not fully vaccinated.
Over 900,000 people have fled the violence since December 2019 alone. Coronavirus is also an additional threat for families fleeing the violence.
Since ShelterBox began in 2000, your support has helped us provide shelter for more than two million people.
Working through our partners we’ve supported 250,000 people fleeing the unimaginable danger with essential aid.
When in the morning you wake up angry and complain for no reason, always remember that being born in the right place in the world is just a matter of luck.
President Albert opened the meeting following our self catering BBQ which was assisted by Dick and JG as the chefs. It appears that both chefs like their steaks and sausages well done! There was plenty to eat and thanks to all who brought salads and desserts.
We had 17 members attend the meeting a good rollup for the AGM!
Two birthdays were celebrated, that of John Bond and Dick Jennings. There was also a rare 50th wedding anniversary, that of Sharon and Grahame Miles. Congrats to all!

This article in My Rotary highlights several wonderful projects in several countries including Canada, the USA, Serbia and Nepal a good read this one below is on a project in Tanzania.
Tanzania
For girls in the developing world, a lack of safe transportation can be a barrier to education. At the Ndevelwa Secondary School outside Tabora, Tanzania, for instance, “typically only the boys had the benefit of bikes to help with the journey,” says Elizabeth Demichelis, a member of the Rotary Club of Modesto Sunrise, California. “Thus the concept of pink bikes was born.”
The Modesto Sunrise club, with help from the local Rotary Club of Arusha, arranged for the bicycles to be made available to girls; the conspicuous colour is a theft deterrent. The girls, their families, and the head of school signed contracts denoting responsibility for the care of the assigned bikes.
2. RC Ngong Hills, Kenya, Launches Mentorship Program.

The Rotary Club of Ngong Hills (RCNH) in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Ngong Hills has launched a mentorship program at the Oloolua Secondary School in Oloolua, Ngong.
Mr. Boniface Mutinda, the Principal, Oloolua Secondary School said the mentorship program was timely. ‘These students need a lot of support since most of them come from very humble backgrounds around Ngong. They will be writing their form four examinations next year and this initiative will help give them the right information to make wise decisions,’ he said.
This Monday night we had a self catering night with some 23 attending including three guests, Sally Farmer, Ruth Morgan and Susan Glassford. The atmosphere was conducive to fellowship as we were seated around one long table for the group. This week was Grahame’s turn in the spotlight.
Grahame Miles in the Spotlight
Past President Grahame Miles had his turn in the spotlight this week. Grahame has had a very interesting life and provided many interesting details of his past:
Grahame’s great great grandfather arrived in Australia in 1810 having been sentenced for horse stealing and on his release started a butcher’s shop in The Rocks.
Grahame’s ancestors have been traced back to 1488 on his mother’s side of the family and to 1680 on his father’s side from Wilshire in England.
Grahame and Sharon celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this month.
Grahame spent many hours at night school having left school in 1961 and in his learning he became a pattern maker.
Grahame completed his HSC at night school and went on to become a teacher and moved to Coolamon in 1976. He took up a teaching post at the Coolamon Central School and recently retired. Grahame is an avid gardener and is a huge Rolling Stones fan and has been to several of Stones concerts.
Sharon opened and operated Treats Restaurant in the shop where Grahame now operates his antiques and collectibles shop, Treats and Treasures. Grahame and Sharon built a new home in McGaigs Lane now 15 years ago. Grahame joined the Coolamon Rotary Club in November 1982 and was our president in 2007-2008.
The meeting concluded with an entertaining fines session and the weekly raffle. The main raffle prize was won by Adrian.

1. 2021 NOBEL PRIZE IN CHEMISTRY TO A ROTARIAN

This year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to a Rotarian.
Benjamin List, a member of the Rotary Club Mülheim a. d. Ruhr-Schloß Broich, and the Scottish-born U.S. researcher David W.C. MacMillan received this year’s prestigious award. Both have developed methods for accelerating chemical reactions.
Rotary Magazine held a brief interview with Benjamin List, who conducts research at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim, Germany.
Mr. List, how did you learn about winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry?

Nominations are called for from Rotarians within District 9705 to fill the position of District Governor in the new District for the Rotary year 2024 – 2025.
District 9705 has over 80 Rotary and Rotaract clubs, with approximately 2000 Rotarians. These clubs are organised into six regions each with no more than 15 clubs, and administered by an Area Governor who assists the District Governor in the administration of the District.
The current District Governor is Leo Farrelly (PP Belconnen), District Governor-Elect is Geraldine Rurenga (PP Brindabella E-Club) and the District Governor-Nominee is Andrea Grosvenor (PP Queanbeyan).
Duties of the District Governor:
The governor is the officer of RI in the district, functioning under the general control and supervision of the board. The governor shall inspire and motivate the clubs in the district. The governor shall ensure continuity within the district by working with past, current, and incoming district leaders. The governor is responsible for see information sheet below:
President Albert welcomed 20 members to our weekly meeting, which ended up mostly as a social meeting with an early mark to allow the Sportsman’s Night committee of CRC to discuss plans for their planned event. Leslie was given a bottle of wine in observance of her upcoming birthday. Several events planned for this spring have been postponed, including Gears & Beers, which will take place in late March, and our garden viewing, which will likely be postponed until next spring. CRC will be assisting with the NYE street festival in Coolamon, so keep your calendar clear!
John G organised a Melbourne Cup sweep for members, and the meeting concluded with the usual fine session and weekly raffle. The Sergeant was a bit light on fines, but plenty of cross-fines made up for the shortfall. The main raffle prize was won by Chez, with minor prizes going to several lucky members. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.

1. RI President’s Message – November 2021
I first discovered the value of service when I saw how a few simple acts can immeasurably change lives. It began when I joined others in my club for a project to bring toilets and clean drinking water to rural villages near our city. It moved forward when we promoted sanitation and provided opportunities for education across the country, thanks to generous gifts from supporters who believed in our projects as much as those of us on the ground did.
There is no better time of the year to be reminded of that generosity than November, which is Rotary Foundation Month.
As the charitable arm of Rotary International, The Rotary Foundation is the engine that powers so many Rotary projects throughout the world. The Foundation transforms your gifts into projects that change lives. It is the Foundation that helps us to get closer to our goal of eradicating polio, to show more people how we promote peace through tangible actions, and to demonstrate the impact our projects have in our areas of focus.
Consider some recent projects that were made possible by the Foundation:
The Rotary clubs of Guatemala La Reforma, Guatemala, and Calgary, Alberta, received an $80,000 global grant to organize a comprehensive plan to train nurses and rural health care workers to prevent and treat cervical cancer and to implement a sustainable system of referrals in seven regions of Guatemala.
More than two dozen hospitals in Honduras received personal protective equipment for their medical staff thanks to a $169,347 global grant sponsored by the Rotary clubs of Villa Real de Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and Waldo Brookside-Kansas City, Missouri.
The Rotary clubs of Cotonou Le Nautile, Benin, and Tournai Haut-Escaut, Belgium, received a $39,390 global grant to provide agricultural training at an ecologically responsible permaculture mini-farm connected to a center for children in Sowé, Benin. This will help a new generation of farmers become economically self-sufficient.
I like comparing The Rotary Foundation to the Taj Mahal, a monument of one man’s love for a woman. The Foundation is a dynamic monument of our love for all of humanity.
This month I am asking all Rotary clubs to bring attention to the Foundation. It is what connects all Rotarians worldwide and transforms our collective passions into projects that change lives. Visit rotary.org/donate; once there, you will have an opportunity to give directly to the program you’re most passionate about.

2. The Rotary Foundation
When people ask me what The Rotary Foundation is, I tell them it’s the heart of Rotary. You may have heard before that Rotary has an intelligent heart. The Foundation combines our emotional response of compassion with pragmatic action. With both heart and brains, you can change the world.
So, what does the Foundation mean to you? November is Rotary Foundation Month, but do you really know our Foundation?
First, it truly is our Foundation. The Rotary Foundation doesn’t belong to me or the other 14 trustees, nor to the RI Board of Directors, nor to the RI president. It belongs to each Rotarian around the world.
And it’s there for all of us to change the world. We save mothers and children because we have compassion, and we know how to plan. We provide clean water and sanitation where they’re needed to those who need them, because we build strategies based on a community’s needs. We combine support for peace, education, and economic stability for at-risk communities with an ability to manage big projects.
Giving to the Foundation is smart, too, because in doing so, you multiply the value of that gift. How many other foundations can you think of that identify the projects, fund them, and run them on the ground themselves? Ours is the only one I know. And we get it all done at such a relatively low administrative cost. This is one reason Charity Navigator consistently gives the Foundation a four-star rating.
I sometimes get asked a question: How much should I be giving to the Foundation? Each year, make a gift of what you can afford to give. For some, that is $100, and for others, more. What’s most important is that you give something, because each generous gift helps us meet the increased demand we’re seeing from members for global grants and our other programs.
This year, we want to raise $50 million for PolioPlus, which will be matched 2-to-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, for a total of $150 million. If every Rotary club contributed just $1,500, we would surpass this goal. We have other goals as well — for the Annual Fund, the Endowment Fund, and outright gifts — adding up to a grand total of $410 million.
We will get there if we set our hearts — and minds — to it. But remember, it’s not about the money; it’s what the money can do.
There’s a saying that goes, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
The Foundation is that stone, so let us turn ripples into great waves with it, using our hearts and our minds.

President Albert welcomed 20 members to our weekly meeting. The meeting focussed on upcoming events and programs , and featured member John Nulty in the spotlight. Some of the upcoming events:

The Anglican and Uniting churches from Coolamon are preparing gift-filled shoe boxes to provide to children through churches in villages and towns in developing nations at Christmas. The Coolamon Anglican parish have packed some 70 boxes so far and are looking for donations to help with the postage for the boxes @$10 per box. The matter has been referred to the board.
This week was John Nulty’s turn in the spotlight. As usual, we learned interesting things about one of our members. Of Irish descent, John’s ancestorsy arrived in Australia in 1863 from Ireland via Liverpool. John was born in Leeton in 1943, and has been married to Jan for 50 years. Jan and John have two sons, one daughter and eight grandchildren. John loves listening to music and reading, and is a fan of rugby league and the Canberra Raiders.
John worked with the Leeton Shire as a surveyor and served for 6 years in the Australian Army. John is a Vietnam War veteran, having serving there in 1968-1969. Vietnam is John’s favourite country, and he has been back twice now since the Vietnam War ended. John’s last career post was with the Junee Jail, where he worked for 5 years. John is now retired and lives in Coolamon. John joined the Coolamon RC in April of 2015.

2. ROTARY WHEEL BRAND OF EXCELLENCE
The adoption of the new brand standard is part of an overall strategy to focus on telling Rotary’s Story more effectively. A survey of the public perception of Rotary showed that 4 in 10 persons had never heard of Rotary, another 4 in 10 had heard of Rotary, but didn’t have any idea about Rotary actually does. The remaining 2 in 10 had heard about Rotary, but had some very negative opinions about Rotary. The think that Rotary is generally a club for older men who go to boring meetings and eat bad food. Obviously this is not the true picture about what Rotary is all about.
Having a consistent brand image is important to all organisations, Rotary is no exception.
In 2013, a new logo & brand image pack was developed, this was to ensure every club, in every district across the world could have the same high standard of brand recognition.
There a lot of old style Rotary graphics still being displayed on various publications, including newsletters & flyers, posts on social media and hardware items, such as banners and signs.
Please check your clubs portfolio, make sure they are updated.
President Albert welcomed 21 members and one special guest to our weekly meeting (plus Grahame joining in via Zoom). This week’s meeting featured a meeting with our new district governor, Leo Farrelly (via Zoom) and our new area governor, Elaine Almond (in person). DG Leo outlined RI President Shekar Mehta’s vision for the growth of Rotary and for Rotary to become more relevant to the youth of the world as well to encourage members to stay the course. DG Leo pointed out that over the past 10 years we have gained 1.3 million members BUT we also lost 1.3 million members. So we have a problem retaining members.
DG Leo spoke on TRF (The Rotary Foundation), 7th Area of Focus that is Protecting the Environment.
The presentation by DG Leo was well received and he praised us for our website, Facebook page and our bulletin. DG Leo also encouraged all members to log in to the D9705 website and to personally update their information.

Elaine met with the CRC Board prior to the meeting to discuss our plans for the year and reminded us of important upcoming dates:
PETS President Elect Training Seminar will be in Cowra in February 2022. PE Paul Weston to attend.
D9705 DISCON (District Conference) is on March 18-20th at Temora. Hosted by the RC of Temora. The Sat. night dinner is not to be missed as it will be in the Aviation Museum. Theme of the DISCON is regeneration.

Rotary International is considering establishing a regional governance pilot to address membership, public image, communication, and fundraising challenges to ensure our organisation thrives long into the future.
Should this proceed, in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands we have an opportunity to be one of a small number of regions across the globe to pilot this new governance structure, created by RI’s Shaping Rotary’s Future Committee (SRF). Read the background of this project here.

Several members braved a chilly spring day to sell transplants raised by Albert. Between the dodgy weather and the fact that many people already have their veggie gardens in, sales we a bit disappointing. The final numbers are not in, but a bit of money was raised to supplement the social committee budget. Below, Albert and Anne are shown manning the booth:

Family Elaine and I have six children and twelve grandchildren. We love to travel and I have walked the Camino twice, once in Spain and also in Portugal.
Rotary Background
I first joined Rotary in 1989 as a member of the Rotary Club of Belconnen and left at the end of 1994 to concentrate on my involvement in Scouting. I re-joined Rotary in 2008 after I (nominally) retired and have been an active member of the Belconnen Club since then. I served as President in 2015-2016 and have been a regular member of the club’s Board in various years both before and after my presidential year serving as secretary, membership director and community service director. Additionally, I’ve served as the webmaster, PR and communications officer and attendance officer.
I was appointed Assistant Governor of D9710 Group 5 for the period 2016-2017 to 2019-2020, before taking on the District Governor Elect role in the newly inaugurated District 9705. I am a member of the Paul Harris Society and a regular contributor to the Rotary Foundation. And I am a member of the Scouting Rotarians Fellowship. I was awarded an OAM in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday honours list for my service to ‘Youth and the Community’.
My wife Elaine has been an active member of Inner Wheel since 1979.
Why did I join Rotary?
Firstly, because someone asked me. My sponsor’s son was in my Scout Troop and the next thing I was in Rotary. My purpose in joining Rotary was to serve my local community through community service projects and this remains my primary focus in Rotary. Rotary gave me a structured organisation where I found an outlet for all the community things in which I’d become interested.
Youth has been a, interest of mine for many year. I joined the Scout Association in 1979 whilst serving with the Navy in Darwin. I served for six years as Branch President of the ACT Branch of the Scout Association and currently hold a position of Honorary Commissioner. I served on the National Executive of the Scout Association of Australia for six years. Whilst in Darwin I was a Cub Scout Leader and also President of the Cathedral conference of the St Vincent de Paul Society where we ran a 25 bed hostel and soup kitchen for Darwin’s homeless.
I also served three years as National Treasurer of the Ulysses Club of Australia that in the years 2010-2013 had a membership of 25,000. Ulysses is a social club for older people with a common interest in motorcycling. Being a member of Ulysses gives me a better understanding of the many issues facing older people in our community.
Other relevant information
I joined the Navy at sixteen years old and served for 24 years, retiring as an officer in the Weapons and Electrical Engineering branch. I served on numerous ships, and at the Navy communications station outside Darwin, and the patrol boat base on Manus Island in PNG. After the Navy I spent 20 odd years in defence industry and a further 12 project management training. My chief interest was in organisational change focussed on achieving the objectives of corporate strategic plans.
My Expectations for my year as Governor.
I believe that Rotary has to face the challenge of regeneration in order to remain a relevant community service organisation fit-for-purpose in the 21st century. We have a glittering history of achievements over the past century but our aging demographic and falling membership numbers are indicators that we have been too slow in recognising changes in our society, changes in our relationships with other countries and their peoples, changes in our environment, and changes in the local needs and demands of our own communities.
