Farewell to Max Chapman

Max at the Hospital fete

FAREWELL TO PAST PRESIDENT MAX CHAPMAN P.H.F.

Max has been a loyal and hard working member of Coolamon Rotary for 19 years now.  Max joined our club on the 1st July 1992.  Max and Sue Chapman have now moved to Wagga Wagga and started a new business there.  Rotary has not lost Max as he is joining the Wagga Wagga Sunrise Rotary Club on Tuesday 21st June.

We will miss Max and Sue Chapman.  Over the years Max has held just about every position in our club and was President in 2002-2003.

Max and Sue often held open garden days at their farm “Kiambo” which raised many thousands of dollars for various Rotary projects including Shelterbox.  Here are just a few photos:

WE WILL MISS YOU MAX AND SUE YOU WILL BE WELCOME BACK AT OUR CLUB ANYTIME!

COOLAMON’S LOSS; SUNRISES’S GAIN; HAVE FUN MAX.

District 9700 Assembly 2011-2012

DGE Ian Simpson with Wollundry President Frank Fuller

Last weekend we had our district assembly and training for the new boards of our clubs.

Our incoming District Governor is Ian Simpson and supported by his wife Jean Simpson.  The assembly was held at Grenfell and 300 or so Rotarians from our district were in attendance.

The main message was that we have to change as change is essential not an option for us to go forward.

DGE Ian gave those present 4 goals to aim for in the upcoming Rotary Year:

  1. Retain current membership
  2. Accent on Club, Community, Vocational, Youth and Foundation/International Service.
  3. Leave a legacy for Rotary Coolamon in our area.
  4. Have Fun!

Here are some photographs from the most enjoyable day spent in Grenfell.

Australian Rotary Conference Canberra 2010

Cowboy Logic by RI President Ray Klinginsmith

Rotary District 9710 organised a wonderful gathering of Rotarians from all around Australia, New Zealand and our neighbours including Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste.

The conference was well attended with Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith as the main attraction.  “Cowboy Ray”,  from Missouri,  spoke well and had plenty to say about Rotary and our future in society.  President Ray also spoke about membership retention and being modern in our outlook and thinking.  Ray also encouraged us to throw away the old ways and look to innovative ways that we can serve our community at home and abroad.  Ray used many an example of cowboy logic to get his points across.

“Always take a good look at what you’re about to eat. It’s not so important to know what it is, but you should know what it was. and don’t worry about bitin’ off more than you can chew, your mouth is likely a whole lot bigger than you think.”

President Ray encouraged all of us to build BIGGER, BETTER and BOLDER Rotary Clubs.

All the speakers were well chosen and gave us plenty to think about and do when we return to our clubs.  The break out sessions were well run with good moderators and excellent discussion.  I was most impressed with some of the younger Rotarians, Rotoractors and Interactors who attended and who contributed.  Our future looks good with these younger Rotarians and future Rotarians.

Here are some photographs from the weekend held at the Hellenic Club in Woden in the ACT:

Many thanks to Rotarian Grace Teng and PDG John Egan for the photographs.
