Coolamon Rotary News Bulletin 2018 #2

MEETING January 22nd 2018

President Paul welcomed all 16 members and guests at 7.06pm.  Guests included partners Helen & Sally & potential members Anne Rzeskowski & Lyn Schadell, together with guest speaker Bridget Pritchet, daughter of Bern Milne

Our club have put together 2 Business House Bowls teams, which commence on Friday Feb 2. If you’d like to join them please contact Henk

Daryl spoke on the need to encourage all members to give the host families a break whenever possible by taking Lucy on outings at weekends or when ever, so the family can have some time to themselves.  As yet she has spent no time on an Australian farm, so it would be great if that could happen in the near future.

A new Bingo roster has been drawn up for 2018, which includes 2 new captains; thanks Daryl & Wayne for volunteering that responsibility. All signed up members of our Club have been included on the roster at least once during the year, so please don’t let the side down.  The roster will be sent out to all members in the next week, so please print it out for your reference.

We also remind members that if you can’t make your rostered slot to arrange a swap with someone rostered the following month; it is not the responsibility of the Captain to do that.

Foundation dinner is on Monday, March 19, hosted by Howard & Anne at the Old Convent

And an upcoming charity event announced by Dick is on Saturday, March 17 on the Kindra Park Oval. There will be live music & a 3-course dinner under the stars. It is being conducted by the Kindra Park trustees it’s title  –  the long table charity event.

Guest Speaker Bridget Pritchet

Guest Speaker Bridget Pritchet spoke on her work in the Salvation Army, sponsored by the Gloria McKerrow Foundation, on her work in the Salvation Army, working in Rural Community school programs at no cost to the school. It involves building relationships within the community, early intervention anger management program, called Red Cap, developing team work, social skills & self esteem, especially anti-bullying strategies. The International Assembly has now concluded and we are looking forward to John giving us a full update at next weeks meeting.

Winning the War on Polio

Time magazine recently posted an article on the War against polio stating; As recently as 1988, there were 350,000 cases of polio each year, and the disease was endemic in 125 countries. In 2017 there have been only 16 cases, in just two countries: Afghanistan and Pakistan. With a case count so low, the question now is a straightforward one: Will 2018 be the year we get to zero?

We certainly hope so and Rotary has been a big part of making it happen. If you want to read the full article you can find it here.

Happy new year to all!

MEETING January 15th 2018

A great turnout of over 40 people to our first dinner meeting for 2018.  Part of President Paul Weston was still in Hawaii, when he welcomed all and asked for all our guests to be introduced.

Guests included members from Kooringal, Junee & Leeton Rotary Clubs, together with

Tim, Peta, Charlie & Jackson Wykes, our outgoing Exchange Student off to Finland later this week & exchange students Alen Chuang (Taiwan), Mads Hindsgavi (Denmark) & our Exchange student from Germany, Lucia B

Also visiting were Digby, Jodie & Abigail Graham (next hosts for Lucy after Bruests),  potential members Lyn Schadell & Anne Rzeskowski & partners Helen L, Shaz, Maureen H, Lorraine H,  Claire M & Heather McK. Apologies if I missed anyone, as there was quite a crowd

The exchange students spoke briefly on their experiences in Australia thus far & Jackson gave a brief talk on some of the places in Europe he will be visiting in the next year. He again thanked out Club for hosting him as did his mum Peta.

Thank you to our new bulletin team

For the foreseeable future the bulletin, which in the past has been in the capable hands of John Glassford, will be now passing into the hands of Grahame Miles, Sarah Collins and Paul Weston while John takes on other commitments. Grahame will be our journalist, composing and writing an article from each meeting and event. Sarah will be acting as editor and publisher by uploading the content to the website, while Paul will be distributing the weblink to all members.

If you have any suggestions or polite criticisms of the weekly bulletin, the team will welcome your input.

Beware the fines!

Ted has nominated Will, the youngest member of the Coolamon Rotary club, to do the fine sessions of our weekly meetings. At our first meeting of the year Will’s sharp eyes and ears didn’t miss a thing and the fines came thick and fast. Congratulations to Will on a job well done, but I think this is a warning to all that we need to be guarding our wallets a little more closely.

MEETING December 11th. 2017

Another great turnout of 18 members and several guests.  President Paul Weston welcomed all to our last meeting for 2017.  Our guests included our visiting medical student, Ning Zhang and her host in Coolamon Jenny Slater. Heather McKinley, Helen Lewis and Lexi Furner also joined us.

There was plenty of business discussed in between our chinese banquet as always special from Di and Gilbert.  There was a summary of the local school presentations of prizes and PE Daryl was most impressed with the students at Beckom Primary School.

Neil Munro introduced Ning Zhang who is studying medicine at the UNSW and is in her third year of medicine.   Ning is staying with Jenny Slater as part of the John Flynn placement programme.  This programme allows medical students to look at country practices with an eye to the future.

Ning is an Aussie born to Chinese parents and lives in Sydney with her parents and Ning’s mother is a Scout.  Ning thanked Jenny for her hospitality and went on to say that she will be back every year for the next 4 years.  Ning had nothing but praise for Dr Sumera Amir who now runs the Coolamon Medical Clinic and practice.  Ning said that Sumera works so hard and is instilling into her practice the duty of care for her patients and going above and beyond in their welfare.

Ning said that country practice is so different to the city and is enjoying here stay in  Coolamon.  Ning has been to a bush dance at Downside which is always a lot of  fun.  As were the visits to the Coolamon Cheese factory and the Junee Licorice and Chocolate factory.

One impression that stays with Ning was the ability to see stars at night!

Ning you will always be welcome in Coolamon.

REMINDERS

Wayne Lewis advised us that there will be a full load of firewood for the NYE raffle.

Will Cartwright brought up the chance of a grant from Wollundry RC for a defibrillator.  More on this  later.

John Nulty requesting that we provide a meal for the 1st Aid course in March 2018.

NYE raffle will now have the two major prizes:

Trailer load of firewood and a wheel barrow full of donated goods both valued at around $500 each.

John Glassford advised the meeting that this week would be the last time he can do the weekly bulletin.

Annual Christmas Party for Coolamon Rotary Club

Saturday December 16th

Saturday night at the Coolamon Convent an appropriate venue for our annual Christmas Party.  We are an irreverent mob, have fun and are not hung up on protocol or procedure.  It was the late PP Bill Innes who ingrained into me the culture of our unique club. I encourage all our new and not so new members to learn how we are unique and what makes us such a good club.  Coolamon is the most successful club in D9700 as far as recruiting and retaining members.

Thank you to Ann and Howard Atkinson for their warm and generous hospitality and for the use of this wonderful facility they are creating for Coolamon and beyond.  We all wish them every success  for the future.

Now the table cloth, Ivan, Lexi did a remarkable sewing job with your new shirt from a table cloth.  We know it has been a poor season crop wise mate, however using Ann’s table cloths for a shirt is not a good look!

Happy Christmas Lucia and I am sure that you will remember this Christmas for years to come.

Looks like we still have our priorities right as seeing Steve Smith make his double century was a genuine reason to delay dinner.

Thank you Paul for steering the ship over the past 6 months, it is not easy when you have a full time career, several hobbies all animal related, and being our President.  We look forward to the next 6 months under your leadership.

To all of my fellow Rotarians and your families I have enjoyed putting the bulletin together over the past 9-10 years, off and on, mostly on.  It is not easy to produce a bulletin small or large.  Our bulletin goes to many different people around our District and to clubs in Kenya, South Africa, USA, Canada, England and a few others.

It is also published on our Facebook page where we have nearly 600 followers.

P.S. Nota Bene!

The bulletin requires an editor as of January 1st 2018.  So far no one has come forward to be that person.  I have to stop being your editor as the workload of being a DG 2018-2019 is increasing daily.  I also have to give up being Chair of RAGES until at the earliest July 2019.  You all must decide on what you will do for the bulletin and in what shape it will take.

This is my last bulletin for a couple for years.  Happy to train whomever puts their hand up and will support them until they get the hang of our bulletin.

OUR CENTENNIAL TWIN CLUB HOUT BAY

I want to take this opportunity to write a wee bit about our Centennial Twin Club, the Rotary Club of Hout Bay, near Cape Town.  It was for the plight of HIV/AIDS orphans that I joined Rotary.  Susan and I visited Cape Town in 2002 and visited Mfuleni township in Cape Town.  I contacted several good friends on our return and after a kind donation of $1,000 in 2002 we simply had to do something with the problem.  The money was given to me by Dr. Nunce D’Angelo whom I first met in 1975 playing hockey for Randwick.  We have been great friends ever since and it was this money that led me to joining Rotary in 2003.

This $1,000 has turned into $300,000 for our Coolamon Road MAPS to Africa projects in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Cote d’iVoire (the Ivory Coast) and South Africa.  With two grants from our Foundation one of which helped construct Coolamon House in Hout Bay. This club Hout Bay punches above it’s weight and we are proud to be their twin club. We have visited Hout Bay 6 times now in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2015. LATEST NEWS FROM HOUT BAY 15th December 2017 

Hi John,

I know your club will be delighted to see your student  Azola being capped at her graduation Ceremony.  She studied Public Management and passed her final year with 6 distinctions. Azola has decided to stay one more year and complete her Honours degree. You will be delighted to know I have sourced another Australian family (the Horwoods) to sponsor Azola for 2018. Your Club has done so much for Hout Bay Rotary that I felt it was the right thing to find alternative financing.

The Horwoods are from Melbourne and are delighted to be involved in our Clubs Bursary scheme. They are sponsoring our Club with 4 Bursaries in 2018 much to our delight. I introduced the Horwoods to The Spirit Foundation (Cape Town Based)early this year and they have confirmed 12 Bursaries for them as well .

Also introduced them to The Hout Bay Lions Club who are now confirmed to receive 4 Bursaries from the Horwoods.  All wonderful news for us back here. Please give our best wishes to your Club and a big thank you for helping us educate Azola.  Incidentally  the Horwoods have for the past year also been sponsoring a Qualified Teacher in Early Learning at a Cresh in IY. Absolutely amazing. Incidentally they are not Rotarians.

DISTRICT GOVERNOR ELECT NEWS:

The call is out for a District Governor for the new District that we will become on July 1st 2020  The name will most likely be District 9705.  Nominations are being asked for to fill this position. The D9705 Governor nominating committee meets on March 10th to select the DG from the nominations received and the DG Selection Committee will be the following:

There will be 6 Area Governors each with 15 clubs to help the Governor.  The new DG will not be required to attend every club and can even have cluster meetings where more than one club exists within a reasonable radius.  As well the Area Governor can take the place of the DG for the annual club visits.

Below is a flowchart of how the process of joining forces with D9710 will be done.

The TRG has the same people as the DG Nominating committee i.e. the G ‘ Train without the independent Chair.  the TMT is now appointing experienced Rotarians to the various Focus Teams who have the job to produce a system of management for all our points of interest.

This will have to be my last bulletin for some time, for this wonderful Rotary club that I have served for 14 years and now entering my 15th year.  I enjoy every meeting and all that we do.  I have made some very good mates over the years and visited many clubs in D9700, around Australia and the world, especially Kenya my home.

Above all Rotary has changed my life like nothing else could do.  It is a privilege and an honour to be called a Rotarian and Service Above Self is our motto.  Our club is growing well and we have a great future for our service to our community both here in the Shire of Coolamon, Australia and over the seas.   We are all volunteers and we should always remember that and not to take too much too seriously above all have fun and enjoy the opportunities that Rotary gives us to just feel good!

As Susan and I prepare for 2018-2019 as the District Governor D9700, I just want to show a brief glimpse of our journey after being introduced to Rotary by PP David Benn from Wollundry Wagga Wagga RC.  David introduced me to PP Grahame Miles and several weeks later I joined Coolamon.  So in pictorial form I share my journey with you and there have been many many highlights, too many to put into this bulletin.

However my proudest Rotary moment was being awarded the Service Above Self Award by then RI President D.K. Lee.  As Rotary’s highest honour for individual Rotarians, this award recognizes up to 150 Rotarians annually, who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service, with an emphasis on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through Rotary.  Current District Governors, RI Directors, and Past RI Directors may nominate up to three candidates by 1 September each year. Only up to 150 Rotarians from the 1,239,532 Rotarians in 35,660 clubs from 540 Districts in 220 countries in the world today, are selected for this award annually.

WALKS THE TALK!

Rotary Family Health Days is the signature program of Rotarians For Family Health & AIDS Prevention (RFHA). The program promotes healthy living and disease prevention by implementing a massive, annual campaign in four countries in Africa and in India that provides comprehensive, free health care services tens of thousands of people in underprivileged communities.

The services include lifelong immunizations to children, such as polio and measles vaccines and comprehensive life-saving annual screens such as HIV, TB, Malaria, Diabetes, Hypertension and more.

MEETING December 4th. 2017

A great role up of members tonight 20 in all.  Our guests included Helen Lewis, Rose Lee Bond and Marilyn Jennings.

Tonight we inducted our latest member Sarah Collins.  Sarah is the daughter of our club secretary and lives in Coolamon.   Sarah is married to Graham and they have two young boys Patrick and Benjamin.  Sarah teaches at Wagga Wagga High School.  Proud parents John and Rose Lee Bond looked on and witnessed Sarah’s induction.

Wayne Lewis is Sarah’s sponsor and introduced Sarah to the club which was followed by President Paul Weston inducting Sarah into our club.  Sarah’s classification is Teacher and will have Dave McKinley as her mentor.

Welcome to our club Sarah you are a breath of fresh air and we look forward to working with you for our community both here and over the seas!

During the meeting Paul Weston advised the members that our Christmas party will be at The Convent courtesy of Howard Atkinson.

Paul also brought up New Year’s Eve and our involvement in the proceedings in Coolamon.  A roster was passed around those present to get volunteers for the night.  This is one of our community related events that we support every year.  It is important that we get as many members as possible to volunteer.

GUEST SPEAKER ROTARIAN SARAH COLLINS

Well nothing like starting your life in Rotary than with a talk on your life and hobby.  Sarah gave us a detailed and interesting account of how she became a resident of Coolamon teaching in Wagga Wagga.

Sarah’s dada John Bond or JB was in the Royal Australian Air Force and as a consequence Sarah had many schools in her life.  Sarah holds a degree in Environmental Management and a Diploma in Education. Sarah has been teaching at Wagga Wagga High School for 17 years now and loves our Youth Exchange programmes.

Husband Graham and Sarah are actively involved in the local community and graham runs a karate school in Coolamon and Alex Thompson is now a Black belt.

Sarah’s hobby and passion is for Bonsai.

Wiki says: “The purposes of bonsai are primarily contemplation for the viewer, and the pleasant exercise of effort and ingenuity for the grower.  By contrast with other plant cultivation practices, bonsai is not intended for production of food or for medicine. Instead, bonsai practice focuses on long-term cultivation and shaping of one or more small trees growing in a container”.

Sarah is secretary of the Wagga Wagga Bonsai Society and brought two examples of her work to the meeting:

Coolamon Rotary growing and becoming a real force for our community and with members like Sarah we move upwards and onwards.

The bulletin requires an editor as of January 1st 2018.  So far no one has come forward to be that person.  I have to stop being your editor as the workload of being a DG 2018-2019 is increasing daily.  I also have to give up being Chair of RAGES until at the earliest July 2019.  Happy to train that volunteer but first you all must decide on what you will do for the bulletin and in what shape it will take.

So far no one has taken up the challenge to produce our weekly bulletin.  I will not be doing it after next week our last meeting for 2017.  Happy to train whomever puts their hand up and will support them until they get the hang of our bulletin.  First of all we need a discussion on its make up and to do that we need to meet.

Mother Hadiza holds her 2-year-old daughter Hafsat as she receives oral cholera vaccine (OCV) at a health camp in Maiduguri, in Nigeria’s conflict-affected north-eastern state of Borno. Hafsat will receive vital vaccinations against polio, cholera and measles and other routine immunization antigens with support from UNICEF-trained network of Volunteer Community Mobilisers, a workforce established to support the polio eradication effort. © Unicef and Rotary International together with the Bill Gates Foundation, the Centre for Disease Control CDC and the World Health Organisation WHO are partners in the eradication  of Polio.

YOUTH

Last night we had a presentation for our Youth Exchange Student and Ambassador for Coolamon, Jackson Wykes.

One of our best Rotary programmes is Youth Exchange and this year we have our inbound student Lucia Bohnsack staying with us for 12 months.  Lucia is doing very well at the Coolamon Central School.

We had a wonderful role up of members and guests.  Amongst our guest were Peta and Tim Wykes the very proud parents of Jackson.  As well Heather McKinley, Jann Breust, Jan Nulty, Marilyn Jennings, Helen Lewis and of course Lucia and Jackson.

On the weekend past Jackson received his green jacket from District Governor George Weston at a presentation in Wagga Wagga.  President Paul Weston gave Jackson several pins and an armband to add to his collection of pins to wear on his jacket.

Jackson’s presentation was well received by all present and several questions and advice came Jackson’s way.  We at Coolamon Rotary are very proud of this young man and we know that he will represent his family, our Rotary club and Australia proud in his 12 months in Finland.

Jackson gave a good account of his life, school, farm and hobbies.  Among his favourite is mountain bike riding especially around Bright in NE Victoria.  Jackson showed some examples of Aussie slang for his Finnish family and sponsor club in Finland, the RC of Urjalan in District 1410.

We ended the night with a thank you to Jackson via John Nulty, a spirited fines session by Dick Jennings who spared no one.   Daryl Breust and Dave McKinley have put a lot of time and effort into making this programme of Youth Exchange the success that it is turning out to be, thanks Daryl and Dave.

Peta and Tim Wykes thanked Rotary and our club for this opportunity for Jackson we look to saying farewell to Jackson on our return from the Christmas holiday season on Monday January 15th 2018.

BTW two of our members are Alumni of the Youth Exchange programme, Wayne Lewis and Howard Atkinson.

Next week we induct our latest member Sarah Collins and Sarah will be talking on her life and her hobby/passion Bonsai.   All members and partners are encouraged to welcome Sarah in to our Rotary Club.

The New District possibly called D9705 to take effect from July 1st 2020.  Size of England with 84 Rotary Clubs, 8 Rotaract Clubs and 13 Interact Clubs  The geographical centre is Young.  Number of Rotarians around 2,400.

We have our 3rd meeting of the TRG in Young on December 8th.  The TRG is the Transition reference Group and is made up of the G Train or the three “Governors” from each District.  The G Train is made up of:

Polio

Poliomyelitis (polio) is a paralyzing and potentially fatal disease that still threatens
children in some parts of the world. The poliovirus invades the nervous system and
can cause total paralysis in a matter of hours. It can strike at any age but mainly
affects children under five. Polio is incurable, but completely vaccine-preventable.
PolioPlus.

In 1985, Rotary launched its PolioPlus program, the first initiative to tackle global
polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children. Rotary has contributed
more than $1.7 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 2.5
billion children in 122 countries. In addition, Rotary’s advocacy efforts have played a
role in decisions by donor governments to contribute more than $7.2 billion to the
effort.

Polio Today

Today, there are only three countries that have never stopped transmission of the
wild poliovirus: Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan. Just 37 polio cases were
confirmed worldwide in 2016, which is a reduction of more than 99.9 percent since
the 1980s, when the world saw about 1,000 cases per day.
Our Challenge

Our collective challenge as Rotarians is to assist in the final push to eradicate this
disease once and for all.

During this month of November, being the month in which we acknowledge and
celebrate the works of our Rotary Foundation, it would be ideal to make our annual
donation towards PolioPlus knowing that each of our Club or individual dollars will
be matched 2:1 by the gates Foundation.

This is a joint effort between Coolamon Rotary Club, Lake Chelan RC USA and the RC of Milimani in Nairobi.

Our contribution comes from the Kilimanjaro Climb 2007 now that we have the Rotary Foundation District Designated Funds of US$13,000 available to supplement this grant from or Foundation.

We met the team from District 9212, East Africa, in Atlanta and now things are moving.

Our AGM started with some general business and Paul Weston welcomed our newest member Sarah Collins. We also received the resignation of PP Ian Durham who has moved to Morpeth near Newcastle for his retirement.  We wish Ian and Christine all the very best.

Treasurer Henk Hulsman read out the accounts for the 2016-2017 Rotary year and our club is in good health financially.

Yesterday the schoolies were tourist in Kathmandu. They visited two major tourists sites the Pashupatinath Temple one of the oldest Hindu Temples in Nepal and Buddha Stupa. A wonderful insight into the Nepali culture,

MEETING NOVEMBER  13th. 2017

Tonight a surprise visit from the Wollundry Rotary Club’s Gears & Beers leadership team.  PP Phil McIntosh, PP David Byfield and current President Paul Milde.  Phil presented a cheque for $5,000 to President Paul Weston.  This being our share for manning check points, making bikkies, serving drinks and generally directing traffic on the October long weekend past.

Gears and Beers is growing and growing with 1,700 riders this year it could go as high as 2,500 in 2018.

• Paul Weston spoke on a recent meeting for drug and domestic violence meeting in Coolamon.
• Neil Munro gave a presentation on the recent Peace Day 25th Anniversary to be held in Wagga Wagga on the 23-24th February 2018.
• Daryl Breust called for more nominations for the AGM next week especially a Bulletin Editor and a President for 2019-2020.
• Wayne Lewis spoke on the refurbishment of the caravan.  Some concerns were allayed by Grahame Miles.  Wayne said that the new exhaust fans have been installed.
• Grahame Miles to look at two 400mm decals for the van.
• We need another Peace Flag.
• Wayne Lewis advised the meeting that we have received $500 to help with the van and $600 from the Membership Sustainability D9700 Grant.  Both grants are for membership promotion and to attract new members.
• New Year’s Eve Daryl Breust is looking for volunteers and a long discussion took place on supporting the event. We are also looking at support from other organisations such as the Men’s Shed, Music 4 Mates and Lions, especially for the selling of the wrist bands.
• Discussion on our Youth Exchange Students Lucia and Jackson.  Jackson Wykes will be doing a presentation on November 27th so please come along to support this exceptional young man before he leaves for Finland in January.  Lucia will be invited to present another talk in the New Year on her country and how they farm in her part of Germany. Lucia is going very well and is a very confident young lady.
• Nominations called for by Coolamon Shire Council for the Australia Day awards.
• Howard Atkinson offered the Convent for our Christmas Party to be held on the 16th December.
• Wayne Lewis asked for the firewood owed to Matthew Lewis to be replaced.  Wayne would love a working bee for a good time and some physical work rather than write a cheque.
• Ian Jennings spoke about a tree planting project which needs to be completed by April 25th 2018.
• John Glassford on the D9700 and Coolamon combined change over dinner to be held at the Ganmain Hall on Saturday June 30th 2018.

A huge night of planning and forward thinking!

Paul Weston spoke on the Sunday I.T. Training Seminar in Young DisTec17.  This was an idea of DGE JG and taken up by Paul Murray our D9700 Webmaster and Executive Secretary.  Paul Weston reported that it was a success and Paul Murray did a great job ably supported by D9700 Trainer Geraldine Rurenga and DGN John McKenzie.

50 delegates including a PDG from D9685 Sydney.  This is a world first as far as we can tell and we were congratulated by Rotary International Director Noel Trevaskis.  Andrew Best from the RI Parramatta office did a video presentation on Rotary Club Central.

We learned plenty and we all have to get up to speed with the Internet.  Photos at the end of the bulletin.

Orange Daybreak RC Schoolies to Nepal

As many year 12 students prepare for a schoolies trip to the Gold Coast for the party of a lifetime, 32 students from schools in the Orange area are heading off on a slightly different schoolies adventure.

What a great day and my thanks to PP Paul Murray and PP Geraldine Rurenga for their professional and dedicated work.  Paul Murray prepared an excellent programme which was well received by the 50 delegates.  21 Clubs were  represented including Coolamon with President Paul Weston, Henk Hulsman, Alex Thompson and JG.

Youth Exchange Night with our German Exchange Student Lucia Bohnsack

What a great turn out of visitors and members.  Junee were represented and several partners of our members were also present.  38 in total to our weekly meeting well done to all concerned.

Lucia was introduced by Youth Director Dave McKinley:

Lucia lives in Erzhausen in Northern Germany.  Lucia hails from a large family and we were given  a comprehensive and passionate talk on her nearest and dearest.  Lucia has two brothers and a sister her youngest brother Lasse featured a lot in her presentation.Lucia has a lovely family and are farmers.  They are mixed farmers and sugar beet is one of their main crops.

Lucia’s village has a population of only 315 persons.

Erzhausen is situated in Lower Saxony,  Erzhausen is a northeastern, consisting of two local parts of the city Einbeck in Lower Saxony .  The nerest big city is Hanover.

This young lady is a wonderful ambassador for her country Germany.  Lucia is now with her second Australian host  family, Jann and Daryl Breust.  Daryl is President Elect for our club.

Lucia is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Einbeck-Northein in District 1800, Germany.
